Wales Loan Fund Helps Launch Shepherd Huts

Brook Cottage Shepherd HutsA £50,000 micro loan has enabled the completion of Brook Cottage Shepherd Huts near Pwllheli. Offering luxury boutique glamping, the five traditional shepherd style huts have been developed by co-owners Jonathan Gooders and Mark Barrow with help from the Development Bank of Wales.

Sion Wynne, an investment executive with the bank, said: “Luxury accommodation in the glorious Welsh countryside is in big demand as our tourism industry and the wider hospitality sector recovers from the impact of Covid-19. Our clients Mark and Jonathan have remained absolutely focused on their vision of providing a unique glamping experience and we are really impressed with the high quality accommodation that they now have to offer.”

The £50,000 loan from the Development Bank of Wales came from the £30 million Wales Micro Loan Fund that is financed by the Welsh Government. Loans between £1,000 and £50,000 are available with repayment terms ranging from one to 10 years.
