Following on from the announcement made in the last issue of OAB, Universal Glamping, formally the ‘The Log Pod’, has now rolled out 50 pods over five locations in Pakistan in a joint venture with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). Specifically designed to be flat pack, to reach the remotest areas of the country, the pods are fitted with insulation to combat harsh weather and come with an off-grid power supply. The first 10 pods are located at 11,500 feet in a stunning mountainous region, perfect for adventurous tourists.
By providing tourist accommodation, the UNDP hopes to create micro economies in some of the most remote parts of the country, helping local communities with regular income. The UNDP is hopeful the project will encourage both internal and external tourism in Pakistan.
Universal Glamping is a family run business and has been manufacturing glamping pods for 12 years. It has recently undergone a re-brand and will be exhibiting new designs at The Glamping Show in September at NAEC Stoneleigh, including a side entry pod, accessible pod and a brand new, two tier canvas structure with IR heating. www.universalglamping.co.uk
