‘Adapt or die’. So true, but when Charles Darwin coined the phrase he possibly hadn’t had the rapid onset of a worldwide pandemic in mind!
In the events industry, parties and weddings disappeared overnight. However, the need for social distancing has led to a demand for marquees to facilitate larger communal spaces and more portaloos. Greenhill Events has been manufacturing bespoke portaloos for the events and film industries and has scaled up production, which, together with its marquees, has helped schools, hospitals, pubs and other workplaces keep everyone safe and the cogs turning.
For the camping world it has designed toilet and shower blocks with individual changing areas for families. This overcomes the issue of continually cleaning between use by different ‘bubbles’ and at the end of the season these units can be moved, stacked and stored.
Smaller events, staycations and social distancing will be the new norm for the foreseeable future and Greenhill Events will continue to bring its years of experience and ingenuity to this new raft of challenges.

While many of Firefly Events’ existing customers decided to postpone their outdoor cinema events to 2021, this pop-up cinema company attracted new customers who were able to host an open air experience rather than their traditional annual events which were unable to go ahead.
One example was at Odds Farm near High Wycombe. A family-friendly venue, famous for their animals and fantastic play areas, the farm usually hosts seasonal events for passholders and visitors. This year, they ran their first drive-in cinema, screening films over three nights and selling out. They are already planning another series of drive-ins for early 2021.
Porsche also opted for a three day drive-in event for their customers. Porsche owners filled the beautiful grounds of Chenies Manor, Rickmansworth, to snuggle into their luxury cars and watch films such as Le Mans on a giant screen. A great way to get customers and their cars together while promoting the new Porsche models.
