Oxygen House Summer Festival, Devon

Oxygen HouseProduct: Ivory white tipis, lighting and furniture
Supplier: Tipi Spaces, 01884 277306,,

Details: Oxygen House’s Summer Festival, held at Escot Park in Devon, is a private two-day event for 500 staff and their families. Over 25 suppliers were hired to supply security, accommodation, water, power, staging, lighting, food, children’s entertainment, shelter, a bar and live music. This was the first event of its kind to be powered completely by renewable energy. Solar charged batteries were successfully used to run lighting, sound, refrigeration, heating and cooking.

Oxygen House needed to create a sheltered dining space to accommodate guests. They hired three ivory white tipis from Tipi Spaces which were built in an arc formation to create a large open plan space. Tipi Spaces also supplied indoor fairy lights and outdoor festoon lights, floor matting and lounge furniture.

Oxygen HouseEscot Park is a public space frequented by local dog walkers and other visitors to the estate. This meant extra consideration had to be given to the security and safety of the build site to ensure any risks were mitigated. Tipis Spaces worked closely with its client to put in place a build plan to ensure the tipis were ready on time for guest arrival.

Customer feedback: Head of events and wellbeing, Beverley Langley, said: “We just wanted to say an official big thank you for providing your lovely tipis which formed a large part of the aesthetics of our Summer Festival. It captured the vibe perfectly and certainly helped to make the event a great success. You were an absolute pleasure to deal with; your company shares our ethos and we’re really glad we found you!”

Greenbelt Festival, Northamptonshire

GreenbeltProduct: Stretch tents in various sizes and shapes
Supplier: Alternative Stretch Tents, 01920 830256,,

Details: Alternative Stretch Tents provided over 1,000sqm of stretch tents for one of the country’s longest standing festivals – Greenbelt 2022.

Alternative has in fact provided stretch tents to the festival for some years and comments that it is a highlight on the calendar – to work on a site with great views, a high level of health and safety and a great production team.

Greenbelt FestivalWith a company ethos to ‘adapt and overcome’ where physically possible, the Alternative Stretch Tents crew can be relied on in tricky moments. Greenbelt festival was a very slick operation despite the huge array of suppliers. More suppliers generally goes hand in hand with more issues, however the great amount of planning undertaken by the production team ironed as many of these out as possible. Greenbelt was not without a small amount of bumps in the road but nothing a well-oiled team cannot overcome and Alternative is looking forward to 2023!

Customer feedback: A production manager at Judgeday said: “Adaption is the key to successful events, happy clients and happy punters alike. Alternative Stretch Tents provides a great service and has been adaptable over the many years we have been using them.

“Their crew is always upbeat, professional and willing to work with our needs, which we all know is a must on live events. On such a gorgeous and prestigious venue in the Northamptonshire countryside, we rely on all our suppliers being courteous and respectful to the land in which they are upon; the Alternative Stretch Tents team is certainly that!”

Private Party, Hampshire

Private PartyProduct: FloorStak tailored cassette floor system plus structure support and levelling equipment
Supplier: FloorStak, 07841 069627,,

Details: Joseph Benjamin Marquees ( near Aylesbury recently completed the first installation of its beautiful brand new Sperry pole tent for a private party event in Hampshire. Because of the steep slope of the chosen site, it was decided that cassette flooring would be installed and would need to be levelled using the FloorStak system.

The radiused ends of the 14m x 32m tent were accommodated by two special floor sections, purpose-made for use with this type of pole tent. While erecting the tent on a rectangular floor would have been quite possible (and it’s commonly done this way), the company decided to entrust FloorStak with the manufacture of the special ‘tailored’ end units which follow the shape of the tent and eliminated the risk of water ingress from exposed corners of the floor.

Private PartyThe resulting installation, which also incorporated a lower level seating area for viewing the entertainment stage, looked very professional. The design and production concept behind the FloorStak cassette floor system help to make it highly configurable and therefore versatile. It is proving invaluable to event installers, and is also now being used in military and emergency aid applications worldwide.

Customer feedback: Joe Goode, director of Joseph Benjamin Marquees, said that the levelling system, flooring, and pole tent were all erected from scratch in the first two days of the build, which he felt was quite remarkable since much of the equipment used was completely new to his team.

Gone WildProduct: Tipi and yurt accommodation – over 100 units
Supplier: Hearthworks, 01749 321210,,

The event proved extraordinarily popular. Somewhere between a large music festival and an activity camp, Gone Wild was the perfect size for a great family holiday.

Hearthworks worked hard with the event to ensure all the accommodation needs were met. A wide variety of tents were required to cover everything from easy overnight accommodation for performers and workshop leaders, to more luxurious requirements for sponsors as well as the various options available to the public.

gone wildGone Wild is all about joining in, with everyone feeling welcome regardless of their outdoor confidence. This meant that public units needed particular consideration, so set packages were carefully put together ranging all the way from the simple ‘Explorer’ option to units that included beds and bedding and even an electrical power socket.

Feedback: Nichole, Hearthworks’ office manager, said: “Gone Wild was a much-loved weekend, and we were delighted to be involved. Hearthworks had over 100 structures at the event, with our tipi and yurt accommodation supplied with electricity, beds and furnishings.
