Swinton Bivouac, Yorkshire Dales
Product: Kirami FinVision sauna and Kirami wood-fired hot tubs
Supplier: The Log Company, 01748 889303, kirami@thelogcompany.com, www.thelogcompany.com
Details: Swinton Bivouac is part of the 20,000 acre Swinton Estate, one of the largest privately-owned estates in England. Diversification of revenue streams is paramount and Swinton Bivouac is an off-grid complement to the opulent Swinton Park Hotel, Country Club & Spa, recently renovated Coach House, and luxury holiday cottages. The glamping site is situated on the edge of the moors, nestled in woodland, and is home to tree lodges, meadow yurts and a quirky café.
To enhance the tree lodges and make the most of the spectacular location, a wood-fired sauna and new wood-fired hot tubs were developed by long-standing supplier, The Log Company.
The Log Company stocks the largest range of Kirami wood-fired hot tubs and saunas in the UK. Finland-based Kirami has over 20 years’ experience in the wood-fired hot tub industry and is now the largest manufacturer in Europe selling 10,000 units annually. Kirami has recently been acquired by Finland-based global leader in the sauna and spa market, Havier. This exciting development has enabled industry-leading technology in Kirami’s FinVision saunas.
To deliver a practical yet memorable experience The Log Company took the time to understand Swinton Bivouac’s vision and objectives and tailored products to match. Its direct relationship with Kirami’s design and build team meant it could provide the most suitable layout and specification. A site visit was conducted with Swinton’s chief executive, Iain Shelton, then planning and product selection commenced.
Once the FinVision sauna had arrived from Finland an experienced delivery and installation team worked around the site in order to reduce disruption time.
Customer feedback: Sophie Goodyear, operations manager, said: “Our relationship with The Log Company started in 2015 when they delivered our first wood-fired hot tub and from the very beginning. Mark and the team have proved to be knowledgeable and supportive, ensuring we had the right products for our requirements. They are the UK resellers for Finland-based Kirami and have a close working relationship.
“Mark has always been available and very responsive to any questions or queries we have had. From start to finish The Log Company’s service was reliable and organised and we would recommend them to anyone looking for wood-fired living products”.

Californian Grills is a British company fabricating steel barbecues based upon The Santa Maria style grill. The key feature of this grill is that the grilling rack can be raised or lowered by a hand crank mechanism to control the temperature whilst cooking. What makes Californian Grills different is that its grills are modular, comprising a fire box, grilling rack, and stand/legs, giving the user a variety of different ways to enjoy an outdoor fire.
Santa Maria Grills originated in California and date back to the mid-1800s, when the land was still owned by Mexico. Ranchers in the Santa Maria Valley would host feasts, barbecuing meat over earthen pits filled with hot coals of red oak. These barbecues are one of the greatest legacies from that era and have become California’s signature style of cooking meat over fire.
Californian Grills also makes large bespoke grills for outside catering establishments.
