What to expect from this year’s event for events.
This year’s Showman’s Show will return to Newbury Showground on 19-20 October on the back of an incredibly busy summer season. Exhibitor bookings are buoyant, and the show promises to deliver a varied and diverse range of products and services. As always there will be a good cross section of the entire supply chain, from state-of-the-art structures, waste management, plant and hire equipment, technology and professional advice to entertainment, caterers, stages, production equipment and finishing touches.
“The event industry has returned with a bang this summer, pushing promoters, organisers and suppliers alike to their limits as they faced multiple challenges in a post Brexit and Covid era,” says event director Jeremy Lance. “The show will be an opportunity for everyone to take a breath and re-set ahead of 2023. With 300 exhibitors expected, over 60 brand new to the show, and numerous launches already confirmed, we believe that this year’s event will be a melting pot for innovation and fresh ideas to take us forward.”
Vision: 2025 Sustainable Events Summit
There will be a real focus on sustainability as exhibitors strive to reduce their carbon footprint across their businesses and in the products and services they offer. Vision: 2025’s Sustainable Events Summit 2022 will return to the show on Wednesday 19 October. Aiming to shape climate action for the UK’s outdoor event industry, it will bring together event leaders, policy makers, suppliers and experts to exchange ideas and consider future standards, launch new resources and discover innovations.
The summit programme will feature sessions that look at sustainability for festivals, the circular economy, the impact of travel on live events and innovations of the season. Rounding things off will be the Green Supplier and Innovation Award, a Dragon’s Den style competition which sees three Showman’s Show exhibitors shortlisted and invited to pitch to a panel of sustainability experts and the summit’s audience. The winner is then decided by public vote.
“As event organisers we place a great deal of importance on sustainability and do everything within our power to reduce the environmental impact of The Showman’s Show,” says Lance. “It’s encouraging to see that so many of our exhibitors are also running their businesses in a similar way and we know that it is important to our visitors too. Vision: 2025’s conference has become a key component in the industry’s response to climate change and we’re thrilled that the show has become its regular home and plays its part in facilitating the conversation.”
