Fred Roche Gardens, Milton Keynes

Fred Roche outdoor cinema screen

Product supplied: 5m x 2.5m outdoor LED screen on a four week hire
From: Ellievision AV (07790 132298 / www.ellievisionav.co.uk)

Details: Ellievision AV was approached by MyMiltonKeynes, the Milton Keynes Business Improvement District (BID). The organisation had an idea and required some help. The initiative was two-fold; to get people to use the Fred Roche Gardens in the city centre, as many people didn’t even know the gardens were there, and to encourage workers to reclaim their lunch hour by getting them out of the office.

The client wanted to show Wimbledon from 11am-6pm, but needed a solution to do so. Unlike projection, which you can only use when it goes dark, outdoor LED screens can be utilised throughout the day and evening, in bright sunshine or showers – and during July there was both!

The flexibility of the outdoor LED meant it could be used as an all-day cinema screen or repurposed for sporting events, educational programmes and promotional messages. MyMiltonKeynes showed promotional videos highlighting all the other projects it was working on. These included educational TED talks that businesses could request, so the space became an extension of the office for some over the four week period. At weekends, free family films were shown, encouraging even more people to use the gardens.

Over the four week period approximately 6,000 people visited the gardens and MyMiltonKeynes’ social media reach went up massively.

Feedback: Johnny Englishby, marketing and communications manager at MyMiltonKeynes, said: “Having worked closely with both Heather and Tim from Ellievision on the MyMiltonKeynes outdoor cinema this summer, I can assure anyone considering using their services, you will not be disappointed! Pure professionalism, faultless delivery and always on hand for any request you could throw at them.”
