This pre-fabricated, modular off-grid cabin is the latest creation by Wild Hart. Nick Sneller and his team worked with their client to fulfil their vision, providing exactly what was needed with a modular design. Found a third of a mile off a road in the rolling hills of mid Devon, the insulated structural panels and round pole timber frame were delivered to site by tractor and the internal structure pieced together in a week and wrapped with a membrane ready for the details and cladding.
Larch was chosen for the sub frame for its durability and because it is a sustainable local resource. Ground screws drilled into the bank made an easy foundation system that is quick and simple.
The cabin features two floors with two double bedrooms and hand crafted beds. A unique tree trunk spiral stair leads down to the ground level, the balustrade built by a local blacksmith. Downstairs there is a handcrafted kitchen, lounge with wood burner and a toilet and shower.
A solar system powers the electrics, a borehole provides water and a septic tank handles waste. The cabin adheres to building control and is a very efficient eco build, built for longevity with durable sustainable materials. It is available to let via Holly Water Holidays. www.wild-hart.co.uk / 07971 869058.
