Netherby Treehouse, Cumbria

Netherby TreehouseProduct/service: Treehouse design and construction
Supplier: Castles Carey, 07714 754378,,

Details: The owners of the Netherby Estate had been welcoming guests to their venue for some years and were looking for a treehouse to allow them to offer exclusive glamping accommodation that would make the most of their beautiful rural grounds. Being located in a very private spot amongst the oak trees, it was important for the treehouse to be totally self-sufficient.

Castles Carey’s initial design was liked by the client for creating a cosy and compact layout which completely blended with the environment. The off-grid structure is accessed by a raised walkway and features two double bedrooms, log-burning stove, hot tub and fire pit.

Netherby Treehouse InteriorBeing high off the ground gives guests a special feeling of excitement and adventure, enabling the magnificent views to be taken in from inside and out. The covered balcony provides a dry area for boots and coats, plus storage for the log burner, as well as a lovely place to sit on a warm day.

At first the clients employed the services of a London-based architect to apply for planning consent but it became clear that a local architect would have more success, benefiting from knowledge of the local planning policy and personal contacts in the planning department.

Once planning permission had been granted and building control signed off the plan, construction took about six weeks to the point of second fix electrics (supplied by an on-demand generator), plumbing and interior furnishing.

Feedback: The client was completely delighted with the treehouse, the professionalism and efficiency of the team and the very high occupancy rate since completion. This is supported by the great reviews on their website.

Kew Gardens, Christmas at Kew, London

Kew Gardens 'Christmas at Kew'Product: Temp-A-Path for pedestrian walkways
Supplier: EFS Europe, 01509 768252,,

Details: The 2020 Kew Gardens enchanting winter trail took a magical new route, leading visitors for the first time through the beautifully illuminated Rose Garden. Old favourites and brand-new light installations brought festive cheer, as Christmas revellers made their way through over one million lights via EFS’s temporary pathways. 25 different walkways and viewing pods were installed by the EFS team including a 775sq m catering pod.

This is the second time EFS has been commissioned by Kew Gardens to provide the pedestrian flooring for this very special event. 2,385sq m of Temp-A-Path was installed, double what was installed in 2019. The install took just two and half days and pathways were doubled in width to 2.4m due to the Covid-19 pandemic and social distancing regulations. Pedestrian lay-bys were also incorporated for enhanced visitor safety.

Kew Gardens EFS Temporary PathwaysChristmas at Kew will take place again this year from 17 November to 9 January with EFS once again installing over 2,600sq m of walkways and viewing pods . In addition, EFS has been invited to supply its Hex Road flooring again at the Royal Botanical Garden’s Wakehurst venue for its Christmas event. 1,146sq m will be installed to serve as a temporary car park.

Feedback: EFS’s managing director Jeremy Simpson said: “We were delighted to be asked to work with Kew Gardens again and Wakehurst for the first time on these very special events. Our Temp-A-Path was required for the thousands of visitors to enable them to navigate the event safely and adhere to social distancing regulations. Walkways and viewing pods were installed around the illuminations and the food areas.

“At Wakehurst, we installed a temporary car park with our Hex Road. There has been a huge strain on the events industry during this global crisis, so to be able to assist Kew and Wakehurst was an absolute privilege”.

Festival-proof Qorone Seating

Festival-Proof Qorone SeatingQorone
07798 902209

Qorone has developed a range of outdoor furniture using the same construction techniques as its Qorone structures, for the same look, feel and durability. Handcrafted in Somerset, the furniture sets comprise tables and bench seating that are designed to be festival-proof!

Coated in the same high quality varnish as the Qorone walls, mud is no problem and the furniture can be easily wiped clean. And like the benches built into the Qorone walls, the seating is angled just right for optimum comfort.

The idea for the furniture arose from a desire to expand Qorone’s offering at events. While the structures draw people inwards with their welcoming circular space and central fire, the design team wanted to create a seating area outside that fits perfectly with the aesthetic. As standalone items, the natural wood finish will enhance any setting, providing comfort and practicality.

Available to purchase, or to hire alongside The Magic Teapot or one of the larger Qorone structures.
