What does Hunter Outdoors do?
We have an array of great, individual pieces to create or refine your outdoor space for relaxing in. We create and collect products which bring a touch of luxury to camping, glamping and relaxing outdoors, helping to create those magical moments guests will remember forever.
How do you do it so well?
The company is fuelled by our passion for good times outside. So all of the things we make, and all of the items we source, reflect that.
As a collection of friends who would frequently go camping together, we began to refine and finesse the things we brought along, mixing our playful competitiveness with our backgrounds across design, manufacturing, architecture and photography. We revelled in raising the bar every time, and seeing what everyone else would bring.
From the hammocks which need no trees, to an ever-evolving custom canopy, BBQs, smokers, rotisserie delights, pizza ovens and a trailer top that converts into a colossal dining table, our fun continues today and now we share our great finds and creations with everyone else.
What was the motivation for starting the company?
Founding member Alex felt driven to help others to share and enjoy the items which bring such surprise and delight. “There is a moment that stands out in helping us realise what we had created,” he says. “While walking back across the camp after a day in the sun, it just looked magical – the low sun, the crackling BBQ, the relaxed happy friends; there was a beauty and a magic in that view. You just can’t paint a picture like it – the things which enable the atmosphere to occur, that trigger a smile, a memory created, a moment shared. That’s why we go camping in the first place.”
The desire to help create more of these magical moments is what prompted us to launch the company. “We call these moments ‘memory postcards’. They are the snap shot you recall on a cold Monday morning back in the office, that bring a smile to your face.
“So that’s our criteria for all the things we create and source – would it make your postcard?
How does it support that shared moment, add that sparkle, or create that smile?
What is your ‘hero’ product?
Our first range of products centres around ‘The Shady Spot’, a modular tensile canopy that brings shade, shelter and a feeling of luxury to the outdoors without blocking out the scenery.
The canopies have been tested, developed and refined over the past two years before we debuted them at the Glamping Show in 2019. They can be setup in 10 minutes by just one person.
Billed as ‘the lounge space for your tipi, the terrace for your yurt and the shade for your sandpit’, spaces can be enclosed by simply clipping on side and rear sails. It’s easy to move and reclip the sails to follow the sun throughout the day. Shady Spots can also be connected together to grow a space.
The 12x9m studio for your yoga class, the 9x3m pop-up dining room with a view, the shaded walkway to the beach or a dozen champagne serveries. What will it do for you?
