Black Deer Festival

Product supplied: Reusable cups, including bespoke Black Deer designs and generic Green Goblet festival pints and half-pints
From: Green Goblet (01278 238390 / www.green-goblet.com)

Details: Green Goblet provided a sustainable solution to reduce single-use plastic waste from the bars of the 2019 Black Deer Festival, a multi-award winning Americana and country music event near Tunbridge Wells.

The average festival cup is used for less than 20 minutes but, under the mantra of ‘Refill Not Landfill,’ Green Goblet produces cups that can be washed and reused hundreds of times. Black Deer bespoke designs were created to accompany Green Goblet’s generic festival cups, which are distributed and reused at festivals, stadiums and events all over the UK.

Reusable green goblet cups

28,000 pint cups and 14,000 half pints were used over the three days, preventing nearly 400kg of disposable waste going to landfill. All Green Goblet reusables were used on a £1 levy system. Communication to event goers about the reusable cup scheme was clearly explained by the festival and well delivered by bar operator One Circle.

Feedback: The introduction of Green Goblet reusable cups reduced the clean-up operation around the picturesque Eridge Park by eliminating the need for disposable cups. The customers could keep their Black Deer cup as a branded souvenir of the festival and received a sturdier cup to drink from, meaning a better drinking experience. Green Goblet is honoured to work alongside this unique festival and excited to continue to help reduce its waste to landfill in 2020 and years to come.

DP Structures was commissioned by Sodexo to create a bespoke suite of modular bars in stainless steel for use at Ascot Racecourse. The 1.5m sections were designed with wheels and can be locked together to form any required bar size and shape, indoors or out.

The back of house compartment provided the much needed storage area for the beverages, and the interchangeable fronts in cedar complimented the overall design.
