Wigwam Holidays will construct 24 luxury glamping cabins at Glenlivet Forest Park, Tomintoul, in the heart of Cairngorms National Park. Thanks to a successful partnership with the Glenlivet Estate and a successful funding bid, Wigwam Holidays’ latest venture will help expand the tourism accommodation portfolio in the area, introducing affordable glamping to one of the most beautiful areas in the country.
Charles Gulland, director of Wigwam Holidays, says, “We’re delighted with the news, which is expected to bring a significant benefit to the local economy in the form of jobs, increasing visitor footfall and boosting direct spend into the area.”
Wigwam Holidays is working in partnership with The Crown Estate, whose regional portfolio includes the Glenlivet Estate, near Tomintoul. Work started in October 2016 with phase one featuring the construction of the first 12 Wigwams, which are due for completion by March 2017. Phase two starts in November 2017 and is due for completion in March 2018 when 24 Wigwams will be in place.
As Wigwams are specially designed for year-round occupancy, additional revenues will be brought to local businesses including BikeGlenlivet, the walking and trekking centre, and the Lecht Ski School and Centre.
“We are very much looking forward to the mutually beneficial partnership that is being forged with the Crown and Glenlivet Estates,” says Gulland. www.wigwamholidays.co.uk
